Great Reads For Discriminating Readers!

Posted April 19, 2016 By inkblot19@comcast.net

I haven’t blogged in a while for two reasons. Although I love the interaction with fellow writers and authors, it is very time consuming and doesn’t really increase sales. I can tell you how wonderful my novels are, but book pitches can often be as honest as a used car salesman selling you a lemon. 5 star ratings don’t seem to instill confidence either. Name recognition is the boost, but most all of us are obscure. However, doing nothing will ensure no sales! So if you are interested in a mystery thriller with a paranormal detective, A Sinister Obsession will not disappoint. Stardust Dreams is a romance with a sci/fi backdrop. If you don’t love my novels, scold me in a comment.

Inspiration From The Past

Posted March 2, 2016 By inkblot19@comcast.net

Hey Everyone,

Still waiting to hear from the literary agency on my novel. 4 months now since this process began. Very frustrating. As a senior romance writer, with two senior romance novels, one published, and the other in limbo, I am writing my next. Always seeking research and something new to learn, I felt an impulse to read two of the best, Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights. Wow! They are classic love stories. Timeless. I have pages of notes. However, it wasn’t easy for them. All three sisters sent out their novels to publishers in the 1840’s and were rejected. The Bronte sisters had to use men’s names as women writers were frowned upon. But they didn’t give up and Jane Eyre was published first and then Wuthering Heights. It is an inspiration story as they died young. Certainly they didn’t give up. And their styles were pushing the envelope. I am changing my style a bit and incorporating some of their poetic style, but not to bore readers. I admire them greatly. They are my inspiration.

A Bit Of Self Marketing

Posted February 26, 2016 By inkblot19@comcast.net

I haven’t been marketing in a while, as I have been writing a new book, but I thought I’d let you know my two great novels are still available. One a suspense mystery and the other a beautiful romance with a science fiction background. Both 5 stars! Can read the first chapters on my website. http://sbredstoneauthor.com

Writing, Wondering, Waiting are the 3 W’s for authors

Posted February 3, 2016 By inkblot19@comcast.net

IWSG badgeGood morning,

Well, it’s another Wednesday and another month since we last communicated. And since I last blogged about my latest novel being scrutinized by a top literary agency. I wish to project that the old axiom is surely true. If you can’t take the heat, get out of the fire. I am slowly being tortured by time. It is a long while now and no word. My securities, I only expect a rejection. And if rejection would just sadly arrive, I could live with it and move on. However, that’s not how it works! Day after day I check my emails and its arrival is not forthcoming, causing a surge in upset and an upsurge in their assumed insensitivity. Whenever my phone rings, my first thought it’s them. No it isn’t! I’ve gotten so crazed that I don’t want to check my daily communications. The word “Unfortunately!” will be the hateful vision. So, should your novels reach the big time or you are awaiting a publisher, expect much tension and apprehension. Support from all, including our group is much appreciated for all us writers.

Best,

Great Reads For A Blizzard Weekend!

Posted January 22, 2016 By inkblot19@comcast.net

Hey Everyone,

I don’t know about you folks, but I’ll be trapped in this NY blizzard! May not fly out to warm sunny Florida on Sunday morning. But, I do not despair. My good fortune, I have great books to read. So, for all of you who are trapped in your home, and can’t venture out to a library or book store, as the knee deep, heavy white water prevents even adverse adventure, I’ve decided to visit you in virtual reality with two great reads of mine that will warm your hearts and make your solitude a blessing. A mystery thriller and a beautiful romance with a science fiction backdrop.

Keep warm

Insecurities Enter The New Year

Posted January 6, 2016 By inkblot19@comcast.net

Happy New Year To Everyone.

Another year of writing. Another year of marketing. And another year to second guess ourselves, wondering if what we’re doing will finally pay off. Two novels out in public view. One novel is a computer file, hoping one day to come out in the sun. My fourth novel, I’ve mentioned, a serious look at senior citizens, using comedy and drama for the first time, is being looked at by a literary agency. The first time. I wrote this magical story, not only with the hope that it would be my breakthrough novel to a traditional publisher, but because I wanted to. No matter what happened in its future. My beta readers have loved it. A good sign. But my insecurities are running wild because it is not a traditional story in print, but rather in film and theatrical plays. With my feet not on solid ground, I plan to remain anxious. However, it’s also a thrill. I took a chance. And instead of going with safety, I let my creativity takes me on this new journey. You should do that as well.

I am a guest at the Eclectic Writer today – Join the event

Posted December 4, 2015 By inkblot19@comcast.net

Hey Everyone,

Janet Walters, a highly talented mystery, suspense, and romance writer has been kind to have me at her blog today and tomorrow – http://wwweclecticwriter.blogspot.com she designed an interesting and informative interview that lets you get to know an equally eclectic writer and my work. If you have a moment, come by and meet me and my host. We’ll chat. Well, you don’t actually have to move from what you’re doing, just your fingers to get there. 5 star reviews for both novels. A reviewer said about Stardust Dreams, “As soon as I read the preface, I knew I was going to love this book.” A Sinister Obsession: “If you’re out of coffee and need something to wake you up, just read the first chapter. Opening with jolting images of blood spurting, torture, murder and sexual abuse(and more yet to come), I would say this book is definitely not for the sensitive.”
