Great Reads For Discriminating Readers!

Posted April 19, 2016 By inkblot19@comcast.net

I haven’t blogged in a while for two reasons. Although I love the interaction with fellow writers and authors, it is very time consuming and doesn’t really increase sales. I can tell you how wonderful my novels are, but book pitches can often be as honest as a used car salesman selling you a lemon. 5 star ratings don’t seem to instill confidence either. Name recognition is the boost, but most all of us are obscure. However, doing nothing will ensure no sales! So if you are interested in a mystery thriller with a paranormal detective, A Sinister Obsession will not disappoint. Stardust Dreams is a romance with a sci/fi backdrop. If you don’t love my novels, scold me in a comment.

Writing, Wondering, Waiting are the 3 W’s for authors

Posted February 3, 2016 By inkblot19@comcast.net

IWSG badgeGood morning,

Well, it’s another Wednesday and another month since we last communicated. And since I last blogged about my latest novel being scrutinized by a top literary agency. I wish to project that the old axiom is surely true. If you can’t take the heat, get out of the fire. I am slowly being tortured by time. It is a long while now and no word. My securities, I only expect a rejection. And if rejection would just sadly arrive, I could live with it and move on. However, that’s not how it works! Day after day I check my emails and its arrival is not forthcoming, causing a surge in upset and an upsurge in their assumed insensitivity. Whenever my phone rings, my first thought it’s them. No it isn’t! I’ve gotten so crazed that I don’t want to check my daily communications. The word “Unfortunately!” will be the hateful vision. So, should your novels reach the big time or you are awaiting a publisher, expect much tension and apprehension. Support from all, including our group is much appreciated for all us writers.

Best,

Insecurities Enter The New Year

Posted January 6, 2016 By inkblot19@comcast.net

Happy New Year To Everyone.

Another year of writing. Another year of marketing. And another year to second guess ourselves, wondering if what we’re doing will finally pay off. Two novels out in public view. One novel is a computer file, hoping one day to come out in the sun. My fourth novel, I’ve mentioned, a serious look at senior citizens, using comedy and drama for the first time, is being looked at by a literary agency. The first time. I wrote this magical story, not only with the hope that it would be my breakthrough novel to a traditional publisher, but because I wanted to. No matter what happened in its future. My beta readers have loved it. A good sign. But my insecurities are running wild because it is not a traditional story in print, but rather in film and theatrical plays. With my feet not on solid ground, I plan to remain anxious. However, it’s also a thrill. I took a chance. And instead of going with safety, I let my creativity takes me on this new journey. You should do that as well.

Beta Readers Can Be A Great Help

Posted December 2, 2015 By inkblot19@comcast.net

Hey Everyone,

Needless to say, I am very insecure on my current novel. This has been my first attempt at writing comedy as a major sub-genre. I am a funny guy, people laugh at my jokes, but being funny in an entertaining way on paper, well, that’s another story. I may be laughing, but that doesn’t mean anyone else will find the scenes and dialogue humorous. And that is why I am hoping to snag some beta readers to tell me if I have achieved my goal. I can’t give it to family or friends, they’ll fear offending me. Honestly will be out the window. Many writers I now understand use beta readers. It makes sense. Get an honest opinion of the story. Although the notion increases anxieties, it’s better to know if you’ve achieved the emotional reaction expected. Better to know early if your story is good rather than receive unkind rejections by publishers later. So, with that said, if anyone is interested in reading, for your honest opinion, a senior story about a magical fifty-five and over retirement community, with an ensemble of heartfelt characters having the opportunity to sort of live their youth over again, and its ramifications, let me know. I will provide further details.

Seeking A Literary Agent

Posted November 4, 2015 By inkblot19@comcast.net

Hey everyone,

My newest novel, If We’re Dreaming, Don’t Wake Us! is complete. Although I can offer it to my present publisher, I have reservations. With all the books on the market, and the limitations of the social media in selling books, snagging a traditional publisher becomes so much more important. They do a great deal more in promoting your books. However, if you want to feel really insecure about your writing talent and choice of genre and plot, then querying literary agents will certainly intensify that with their cold rejections. And the rejections will come. I’ve gone through this several times all leading to failure. But, despite feeling like you’ve made every mistake in your writing, I haven’t given up trying to gain acceptance. It is a painstaking and depressing endeavor. Every agent wants something different from you. It takes hours a day to find one that fits with your book. Soon I will be seeing my most hated word, “Unfortunately”. My advice to all of you. If you want a better chance of having a bestseller, then one has to live with the upset, and plod on. There’s no other choice to reach a traditional publisher.

Meet Me At Regina Jeffer’s Blog

Posted September 21, 2015 By inkblot19@comcast.net

Hey Everyone,

You can find me this week, as if you were looking for me, at Every Woman Dreams Blog https://reginajeffers.wordpress.com/ where she designed a most fascinating and informative interview for me. First and foremost I am looking to entertain you. Just as my futuristic romance, Stardust Dreams, will entertain you. Five star reviews. A reviewer said, “As soon as I read the preface, I knew I was going to love this book.”

Both having terminal cancer, Lance attempts to convince Sage to seek immortality in the stars with him. “Sure, we can die here on Earth.” Lance says. “We can die in space. Or—we can awaken on a remote and caring world that saves us! We are the captains of our fate—not the Grim Reaper—yet!”

A reporter asks if Lance and Sage will meet God in the galaxy. “Why not?” Sage answered him. “Lance says God wants us to find him. That’s why he’s given us the ability and intelligence to seek him. I don’t doubt him.”

And, I have a giveaway for you! Wow!

Come and meet me. I’ll be waiting for you. https://reginajeffers.wordpress.com/
